SSHRC Insight Development Grant

I’m happy to share that I have received a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development Grant for the project, Understanding learner regulation of generative AI in post-secondary collaborative learning and teamwork.
The project examines how students make decisions about their use of generative AI during collaboration through self-, co-, and socially shared regulation of learning and teamwork. As generative AI becomes increasingly embedded in academic work and everyday life, there is a growing need to understand how its use shapes learning, interaction, and shared problem-solving.
The research will contribute an empirically grounded framework for understanding learner regulation of generative AI in collaborative settings.
The award was announced in July 2026 as part of more than $5.1 million in SSHRC funding awarded to University of Victoria researchers. I’m excited to begin this work.
